As an aspiring physician, it has always been my greatest hope, even since middle school, that I would be able to experience day-to-day work in a healthcare facility before I graduated. I wanted to have a little bit of experience in the field before I actually submerged myself in it (dip my toe in the water before diving in, per se). My internship at Guilford has been a great aid in my journey to becoming an anesthesiologist. It has allowed me to experience healthcare first-hand instead of from a textbook. I've gotten to run tests that most people don't get to do until college and I am only a junior in high school! This experience has been great and while it is a small start, the saying goes, "A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step."
